
In 2005 we successfully negotiated the purchase of a 250-year leasehold of Wigmore Hall for £3.1 million. Owning the lease means we can plan ahead, secure in our own home, without the risk of crippling rent increases which would have jeopardised the Hall's artistic programming.
We launched the second part of the Foundations for our Future appeal in June 2008, the repayment of all our outstanding loans for the lease which will enable the Hall to move forward without the pressures of bank borrowings and the limitations they present for future programming. Once the loans are repaid we will have an additional £100,000+ per annum to invest in Wigmore Hall's artistic programme.
We have now raised £3.1 million thanks to the generosity of individuals, charitable trusts and foundations for whose support we remain enormously grateful. This campaign is therefore closed.
