This live recording epitomises all that Cherkassky was renowned for – his prodigious talent, idiosyncratic interpretations and unfailingly thrilling performances. It features Haydn’s Piano Sonata in E minor Hob.XVI:34, Hindemith’s Piano Sonata No 3 in B flat major, Preludes 5 and 6 from Sir Lennox Berkeley’s Six Preludes Op.23, and works by Rameau, Liszt and Chopin>.
