Brahms – in some instances arranged by Hough himself – is a staple feature of the pianist’s residency. Few musicians possess Hough’s diverse creativity and intellectual curiosity, his 2001 award of a MacArthur Fellowship demonstrating the international reputation he has continued to enjoy, and which has expanded further through his compositions and burgeoning literary career.
