Samuel Coleridge-Taylor


The early 1900s saw a multitude of composers appearing at the newly-opened Hall to perform and accompany their own works – often just taking to the stage to play one or two songs before handing over to someone else! Among these was Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, who played the piano for several of his own songs during the Hall’s first decade. With those songs, along with his chamber works, receiving renewed recognition today, during Wigmore Hall’s 2022/23 Season Coleridge-Taylor was the subject of a Composer Focus with performances by Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, Elizabeth Llewellyn and Simon Lepper.
