Young Persons Guide to Chamber Music

We thought you might be interested to see how some 9 and 10 year-olds from 4 schools in Lambeth responded to listening to Chamber Music.

Inspired by Britten's A Young Persons' Guide to the Orchestra, we asked the groups of children the question 'What is Chamber Music?'.

They embarked on a journey of musical discovery, listening to live performances, interviewing musicians and thinking about the pictures the music conjured in their head.

Inspired by their journey, they then worked with composer Rus Pearson and artist Reza ben Gajra to create animations and music.

As you can imagine each animation is very different – from people dancing to Frank Lampard in bed surrounded by musical instruments!

This project was run in partnership with the Royal Academy of Music and Lambeth City Learning Centre, now the London Connected Learning Centre.
