Jessica Duchen - Immortal - Who was Beethoven's 'Immortal Beloved'?
After Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, a love letter in his handwriting was found – addressed only to his “Immortal Beloved”. Who was she? Jessica Duchen’s novel Immortal tells - possibly - her story. In this film from the stage of Wigmore Hall, Jessica Duchen introduces the book and reads extracts, interspersed with the movements of Beethoven’s Sonata in F major Op. 10 No.2 played by the rising star pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen. This words and music presentation was filmed at Wigmore Hall at John Gilhooly’s invitation.
