Introducing our 2024/25 Trainee Music Leader: Ella Beard (they/them)

I've admired Wigmore Hall's approach to community music making from afar for a long time, so I am delighted to get to be here and be a part of it this year! I passionately believe that music and creativity belong to everyone, so I am excited to continue developing the skills and toolkit of approaches that will allow me to facilitate creative musical experiences for my community through this traineeship. All of the offerings through Wigmore Hall are so thoughtfully designed and expertly delivered, so I am very grateful to have this opportunity to further establish this area of my creative practice in this environment. I also can't wait to hear all the music that my new London community will create!

Introducing our 2024/25 Royal Philharmonic Society / Wigmore Hall Learning Composer: Zygmund de Somogyi (they/he)

It's an absolute privilege to collaborate with Wigmore Hall Learning over the next year as part of the Pathways programme! I've recently been exploring novel methods of composer-performer collaboration, worldbuilding, and curation in my practice, inspired by my recent work in immersive theatre - and I'm excited to take this strand of music-making further as part of the programme. As a composer, I strive to capture the imaginations of those around me as much as my own - and I'm incredibly grateful to the Royal Philharmonic Society and Wigmore Hall Learning for providing this invaluable opportunity.

I’m a composer currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music, and I’m very excited to share musical stories with families through the chamber Tots program! I look forward to partnering with Wigmore Hall’s outstanding music leaders and mentors, and gaining more experience in interactive, early-years music making!

Eric

I have always had a passion for early years music and have been amazed at the inspiring and creative work at wigmore hall. I’m so excited to be a part of the Chamber Tots Scheme, to learn from the mentors and workshop leaders, and especially to have the opportunity to make music with this community.

Eryna

I am really looking forward to working with my team to discover under-represented composers and works and being able to share them in a playful community setting. I am hoping to have the opportunity to play diverse music, gain more confidence in my improv skills, and learn more about how community music workshops for children are planned and run.

Amber

I am so excited to be a part of the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Scheme this year, working with both fantastic musicians and beautiful families to create moments of wonder and discovery together. As someone who benefitted hugely from experiences of live music at a young age, I am so thrilled to be able to contribute towards inspiring the next generation of creative young minds. Through this scheme, I hope to gain a deeper level of understanding as to how music-making shapes early development, and I look forward to expanding my pedagogical and musical skills by adapting to the needs of the families and finding new, creative ways to communicate through sound.

Molly

Introducing our 2024/25 Trainee Vocal Leader for the Music for Life Training and Development Scheme: Colette Lam (she/her)

Our Trainee Vocal Leader will gain vocal leading experience with our Singing with Friends choir, and take part in creative music making projects within the Music for Life programme. They are supported throughout the year by leaders and mentors from the Music for Life team.

I am a classically trained soprano and recently graduating with a Psychology degree exploring the realm of Brain Science and Singing. I have been feeling so excited about joining the team and learning so much every single week in this wonderfully inclusive and safe environment. I feel so privileged to work alongside many experienced mentors, leaders, and musicians. So impressed and also super grateful to all the staff with their tremendous support. I look forward to the meetings and trainings for the rest of the year.

Introducing our 2024/25 Early Career Placement Trainee (Chamber Tots): Isaac Boothman (they/them)

I’m pretty excited to get stuck into the process of rehearsing, training, and planning for the sessions. Enriching and unlocking children’s creativity is real magic and it’ll be great to meet and work with more musicians who properly care for how music works on children’s terms. The journey from Birmingham to Wigmore Hall, and revisiting classical music after time working in theatre and movement spaces will be pretty interesting too!

Introducing our 2024/25 Early Career Placement Trainee (Family Partnerships): Gabriel Adedeji (he/him)

As a composer and pianist, I’m thrilled to be part of the Wigmore pathways cohort. I’m eager to bring my composition skills and musicianship to the table, and I’m also looking forward to developing my workshop leadership and support skills.
