When violinist Alina Ibragimova and pianist Cédric Tiberghien played four Beethoven sonatas at Wigmore Hall in October 2009, Fiona Maddocks, reviewing the concert in The Observer, observed that: ”A few will stick to their Oistrakhs, but my CD player already hungers for this fiery partnership.”
Alina and Cedric are back in the Hall for their third instalment on Tuesday 25 May in a programme which includes the celebrated ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata. They talk to Sandy Burnett about their musical partnership, recording live in Wigmore Hall, and the context of these sonatas in the rest of Beethoven’s output.
