Overview

Acclaimed for the coruscating beauty of his tone and subtle phrasing, Augustin Hadelich makes his eagerly awaited Wigmore Hall debut.

The young German violinist, who plays on the 1723 ‘ex-Kiesewetter’ Stradivarius, presents a programme teeming with contrasts and allusions. He and regular duo partner Charles Owen open with Beethoven’s serene Violin Sonata No. 8 in G before fathoming the myriad ideas of Schnittke’s Shostakovich-influenced First Violin Sonata.

Hadelich’s technical wizardry will also be on display in Ysaÿe’s fiendishly difficult Violin Sonata in D minor and Sarasate’s evergreen Carmen Fantasy.
