The Elias String Quartet’s Beethoven Cycle at Wigmore Hall continues with works that span more than a quarter of a century of creative development.

Beethoven made the first sketches for his introspective String Quartet in D Op. 18 No. 3 in January 1799. His String Quartet in B flat Op. 130, completed at the end of 1825, reflects what one contemporary described as the composer’s ‘inexhaustible fantasy’.
