Within a year of its foundation in 2010, the
Kelemen Quartet won three prizes at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and went on to take first place at the International Sándor Végh String Quartet Competition in the ensemble’s native Budapest.
The quartet performs a programme of Haydn’s ‘Fifths’ Quartet, so called for the intervals heard at its opening, and Brahms’s Hungarian-influenced String Quartet in A minor.
