Overview

Since its origins in the early 1500s, the viola has played a crucial role in the development of chamber music.

Wigmore Hall’s viola day offers a chance to journey through five centuries of the instrument’s development in company with four remarkable virtuosi: internationally celebrated recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist Tabea Zimmermann, prizewinning pupil of Zimmermann and rising star Adrien La Marca, former violist of the Arditti Quartet Garth Knox, and winner of the EUCO Prize at the 2006 Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition Rosalind Ventris.
