Paris stood at the heart of the artistic world for decades before and after the First World War, a cosmopolitan melting pot of invention, innovation, conservatism and elegance.
The three works in the London Conchord Ensemble’s Coffee Concert evoke the rich variety of the city’s musical milieu, complete with Duruflé’s plainchant-influenced Prélude, Récitatif et Variations of 1928 and Fauré’s noble C minor Piano Quartet.
