Overview
The prospect of lessons with Dame Myra Hess attracted Stephen Kovacevich to London from his native Los Angeles in the late 1950s. He made his European debut in 1961 with a sensational recital at Wigmore Hall, complete with Alban Berg’s Piano Sonata Op. 1.
The acclaimed pianist’s BBC Lunchtime programme includes another work close to his heart, the lyrical late Piano Sonata in A D959 by Schubert.
