Overview

This concert presents a modern-day incarnation of the remarkablesynthesis of Persian, Indian, and Central Asian musical arts thatflourished under the royal patronage of the Mughal court.

The first halfconsists of instrumental music and folk songs from Northern Afghanistanand Tajikistan, while the second half presents music from the Hindustaniraga tradition interpreted by Afghan rubab virtuoso Homayun Sakhi andIndian santur master Rahul Sharma.
