    Overview

The young Brahms served as a conductor andteacher at the Detmold court in the late 1850s.His mature chamber compositions owe much to therefined craftsmanship of the two Serenades he wrotethere, the first of which can be heard in this recitalin its nonet form.

Ensemble Modern also performsscores by the experimental composer Hannes Seidland by Michael Quell, whose recent music has beeninspired by interdisciplinary dialogue.
