Kate Royal’s recital includes the Hermit Songs ofSamuel Barber, settings of evocative texts largely byanonymous early medieval Irish monks, togetherwith other works dealing with the world of the spiritand the flesh.

The duo’s choice of songs by Robertand Clara Schumann highlight the melodic gifts ofboth composers, capped by Robert’s profoundlymoving reflections on the hermit’s solitary life in‘Der Einsiedler’.
