    Overview

Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset make a welcome return to Wigmore Hall with a rich and colourful programme of jewels from the Baroque, including Vivaldi’s fiery ‘La Follia’ Trio Sonata.

Sandrine Piau joins the ensemble to perform cantatas by Montéclair, Scarlatti, and Handel, infused with warmth and passion. The French soprano is a renowned figure in the world of Baroque music; she has enchanted audiences on many of the world’s leading stages in both opera and concert performance.

‘Piau lives intensely each fluctuating shade of feeling, colouring the text expressively and using the ‘sighing’ appoggiaturas so characteristic of French Baroque music to heighten the emotion.’
