Overview

Ryan Wigglesworth, English National Opera’sComposer in Residence, was inspired to writeEcho and Narcissus after reading Ted Hughes’sTales from Ovid.

He eventually settled on hisideal setting, complete with dialogue, narrativeand reflection, after performing Janáček’s TheDiary of One who Disappeared.

Mark Padmoreand Victoria Simmonds join Wigglesworth for thework’s London première.
