    Overview

    Thematic economy and formal unity are commonto the works in the Jerusalem Quartet’s lunchtimeprogramme.

    Beethoven builds the elaborate firstand slow movements of his Op. 18 No. 2 fromsimple melodic ideas; Bartók, meanwhile, prefacesthe four movements of his String Quartet No. 6with the same melancholy theme and uses it asthe foundation for the work’s introspective finale.
