Overview

Bartók’s systematic knowledge of Hungarian andRomanian folk music shaped the development ofhis own musical language. He collected thousandsof melodies during field trips and incorporatedmany of them in works such as 15 HungarianPeasant Songs and 6 Romanian Folk Dances.

Cédric Tiberghien’s recital also includes selectionsfrom Bartók’s Mikrokosmos and György Kurtág’s Játékok,educational pieces also intended for performance.
