Overview

Frank Bridge’s bitter-sweet Violin Sonata, the fineproduct of prolonged creative struggle, received itsfirst performance in London in January 1934.

Jack Liebeck pairs the piece here with Beethoven’s C minorViolin Sonata, a work filled with defiance, anxietyand pathos. The recital closes with John Corigliano’syouthful Violin Sonata, winner of the 1964 Festivalof Two Worlds chamber music prize.
