Mieczysław Weinberg found refuge in Soviet Russiafollowing the Nazi invasion of Poland. His PianoQuintet dates from the end of 1944, its substantialscale and scope representative of its youngcomposer’s artistic maturity.
Sir András Schiff alsojoins the Jerusalem Quartet in another work of grandproportions, Brahms’s Piano Quintet in F minor.
