Overview
In 1917 Janáček, unhappy in his second marriage,fell in love with Kamilla Stösslová, the young wife ofan antiques dealer. His emotionally intense StringQuartet No. 2 ‘Intimate Letters’ was inspired by realor imagined events in their relationship.
The DanishString Quartet pairs Janáček’s work with the secondof Beethoven’s ‘Razumovsky’ Quartets, a work ofhigh drama and arresting contrasts.
