Overview
Charles Villiers Stanford, acclaimed composer andteacher of generations of students in Cambridgeand at the Royal College of Music, became a pillarof late Victorian and Edwardian society.
His songsare performed here in company with works by hispupils Muriel Herbert and the man she loved,Roger Quilter. Herbert’s daughter, the author ClaireTomalin, introduces this recital.
