Overview

Firm Wigmore Hall favourites Alice Coote and Julius Drake present a special programme of works, complete with the world première of a new score from Nico Muhly.

Muhly’s piece stands alongside Dominick Argento’s Pulitzer Prize-winning song cycle From the Diary ofVirginia Woolf, written in 1974 for Janet Baker, and the twelve nostalgic songs of Schumann’s KernerLieder. This concert is entitled ‘I myself am the enemy who must be loved? What then?’, quoting CarlJung, and explores the theme of mental health and the complexities of the human mind.
