Overview
Swiss tenor Mauro Peter studied Lieder singing with Helmut Deutsch at the Hochschule für Musik und Theaterin Munich, and over recent years their recital partnership has developed leading to international critical acclaim.Peter’s artistry, admired worldwide ever since his Lieder recital debut at the 2012 Schubertiade in Hohenems,is reflected in his rapidly growing catalogue of song recordings, including an acclaimed account of Schubert’sDie schöne Müllerin on the Wigmore Hall Live label.
Schumann’s songs, his retelling of Belshazzar’s feast andlate Heine settings among them, stand together in this programme with a selection of works by Strauss andLiszt’s heart-breakingly beautiful Petrarch sonnets.
