Overview

Lara Melda became BBC Young Musician of theYear in 2010 at the age of sixteen and currentlystudies with Ian Jones at the Royal College of Music.

Her Wigmore Hall debut consists of an all-Chopin programme, juxtaposing the gentle melancholy and flowing melodies of his nocturnes with four of his most interesting mazurkas, a Polish folk dance which he transformed into an entirely new genre. Melda rounds off the concert with his dark and dramatic Scherzo No. 1 in B minor.
