Since its formation 15 years ago, EXAUDI hasexpanded the boundaries of repertoire for vocalensemble and explored compelling combinationsof contemporary and early repertoire.

The clarityand focus of the ensemble’s sound, produced byoutstanding individual singers performing aschamber musicians, ideally suits its immersion herein two of Monteverdi’s most expressive madrigals andworks by two Franco-Flemish composers who madetheir reputations in Italy. The madrigal form’s vivacityis also present in EXAUDI’s selections from SalvatoreSciarrino’s 12 Madrigali, settings of nature-themedJapanese haiku created for the 2007 SalzburgFestival, and in James Weeks’s new work for EXAUDI.
