Prague-born, Paris-based composer Kryštof Mařatka, who studied with Petr Eben at the PragueConservatory, has made a high-spirited arrangementof Janáček’s wind sextet Mládí for string quartet.The four-movement piece complements the rhythmicenergy, folk-like boldness and passion of Zemlinsky’sFirst String Quartet of 1896, a ravishing masterworkof late Romantic music.
