Overview

Maria Szymanowska, born inWarsaw in 1789, earned aninternational reputation as acomposer-virtuoso and played forthe Royal Philharmonic Societyin London in 1824. Her brilliantminiatures, the famous Nocturnein B flat among them, paved theway for Chopin’s compositions.

The finale of Polish Music Day alsoincludes Górecki’s Pożegnanieand Eugeniusz Knapik’s hauntinglybeautiful Partita.
