The Scottishcellist, born in 1986, first performed Bach’s Cello Suitesduring his mid-twenties and went on to apply the energyof youth and the experience of deep study to the job ofrecording them in 2014. Higham’s vision of the worksalso draws on his early studies as a pianist to connectwith the harmonic conception and subtle voicing ofBach’s counterpoint. ‘I love trying to get inside Bach’smind as a craftsman, trying as much as possible to be adetective, not just a blind servant’, he comments.
