The Russian-born Americanpianist’s compelling musicianship, richlyinformed by his experience as a classical andjazz performer, was recognised in 2010 whenhe became the sixth recipient of the prestigiousGilmore Artist Award.

Gerstein’s latestWigmore Hall programme runs the wide gamutof his musical interests, spanning everythingfrom Bach’s four enigmatic Duets from theClavier-Übung III, to the Piano Sonata in F minorOp. 14, written while the young Schumannwas suffering the pain of separation from hisbeloved Clara Wieck.
