    Overview

The prodigious talent of pianist Justin Kauflin pairs with the UK debut of a duo featuring French trumpeter Airelle Besson and cellist Vincent Ségal in a double bill highlighting emerging talent from both sides of the Atlantic.

Mentored by the late trumpeter and teacher Clark Terry, and now one of a massively talented clutch of young musician in the Quincy Jones stable, pianist Justin Kauflin embraces the spirit of jazz piano masters, whilst following his own soulfully expressive muse. His life-affirming relationship with Clark Terry was traced in the Oscar-nominated documentary Keep on Keepin’ On.

Airelle Besson’s emergence as a major new talent in European jazz in the past few years has seen her play in a range of delicately balanced and intimate small ensembles, as well as composing and performing with orchestras – at the heart of her music is a lustrous, lyrical trumpet sound that weaves around Vincent Ségal’s mesmerising cello lines – an artist whose recent performances with kora maestro Ballake Sissoko have caught the imagination of audiences throughout the UK.
