Overview

Louis Lortie

’s Chopininterpretations have gainedlegendary status over the years, promoted by the French-Canadianpianist’s jaw-dropping technicalperfection and rare generosity ofspirt.

His programme presents thecomposer’s early and late worksin company with two of ThomasAdès’s glittering Mazurkas.

‘In recent years, I have performed with delight on both Bösendorfer and Fazioli at Wigmore Hall. They are extremely different “animals” and this recital program with two different sonic worlds in each part required the best of both worlds. I am spoiled to be able to convey a particular scent of Austrian melancholy on the relatively new model 280 from Bösendorfer and the more Latin bravura and cantabile flavour of Adès and Chopin on the roaring and sobbing Fazioli.’ Louis Lortie
