Overview

The Finnish violinist champions Perttu Haapanen’s new work, which explores the idea of mutation within the chaconne form, and responds musically to Henrietta Lacks’s immortalised cancer cells, which have proven vital in the development of medicine.

Cancer researcher Suvi Savola joins to speak throughout, and photographer and researcher Maija Tammi’s photographs of cancer cells examine the dichotomy between the cells’ inherent threat to life and their invaluable use in medical research.

Please be advised this performance contains projected images and film of surgery which some audience members may find disturbing.
