    Overview

    After his death Henry Purcell was mournedas ‘Orpheus Britannicus’. In a programme inwhich ‘Orpheus Sings’, his connections with thelegendary singer are celebrated alongside thoseof a French contemporary whose chamber operawas written for private performance in 1686.
