An all-Elgar programme fromthe Castalian Quartet with theirguests brings together threeworks completed in sequence in1918, during the final period ofthe composer’s creativity, andrepresenting his distinctive voiceat its most personal and intimate.Both the String Quartet and thePiano Quintet had their first publicperformances at Wigmore Hall onthis day in 1919.
