    Overview

    The much-loved Endellion Quartetis in its fortieth anniversaryyear and has played over ahundred times at WigmoreHall. Its programme ends withBeethoven’s phenomenal Op. 130in its original version culminatingin the mighty Grosse Fuge, anexplosion of energy and creativityin reaction to the heart-breakingsorrow of the Cavatina beforeit. Smetana’s ‘From my Life’ isovertly autobiographical and one ofthe greatest and most expressiveRomantic quartets. Haydn’smasterly, warm and playful Op. 64No. 6 opens the concert.
