Striking character pieces demonstrating some of the infinitevariety of his musical imagination, Schubert’s impromptus werewritten in 1827, his ‘Gasteiner’ Sonata – which is conceived ona substantial scale – two years earlier in August 1825 while thecomposer was staying in the spa town of Bad Gastein.
