Overview

Multi award winning pianist, Nelson Goerner is one of the foremost keyboard performers in the public today. Covering piano works from the Romantic period, including the rarely heard Thème et variations Op 73, Fauré’s longest and greatest pieces for solo piano, influenced by Schumann's Études symphoniques.

Covering a varied mood, Goerner’s program will move on to Liszt, Funérailles S173 No. 7, resembling the many of Liszt’s acquaintances which died in the mass execution at the hands of the Austrian court of Hungarian prime minister Batthyany, in the aftermath of the failure of the 1848 to 1849 revolution in Hungary.

BBC Radio 3 will broadcast this concert live on Tuesday 26 November at 7.30pm and it will be available on BBC Sounds for 30 days
