The Belcea takes a work fromBeethoven’s earliest set ofquartets and one of his late group.Op. 18 No. 6 (1798-1800) endswith a movement entitled ‘LaMalinconia’ (Melancholy), whichBeethoven requested should beplayed ‘with the greatest possibledelicacy’, while Op. 132 (1825)includes the famous ‘Holy Song ofThanksgiving of a Convalescent tothe Deity’.
