She made her concerto debut with the Hallé Orchestra aged 11, and her international career was launched the following year with her winning performance of the Mendelssohn concerto at BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2002, the much admired violinist once more joins with her regular pianist partner in a programme featuring Elgar’s intimate duo sonata, written at the end of the First World War and containing, according to the composer’s wife, ‘wood magic’.
