    Overview

Bringing together some ofLondon’s leading brass players, the members of the RoyalAcademy of Music’s Ensemblein Residence hold principalpositions in some of the country’stop orchestras. The fate of brasschamber music mirrors that ofthe female composers of thepast. Septura’s counterfactualhistory redresses both balances:placing the music of two femalecomposers, Barbara Strozzi andClara Schumann, alongside that oftheir historically more celebratedmale contemporaries; andimagining that these women hadwritten for brass.
