A widely admired French violaplayer and her pianist compatriotoffer two major pieces actuallyconceived for other instruments:Schubert’s 1824 sonata waswritten for the bowed guitarafter which it is still named,and has been transcribed forseveral other instruments; whilethe 1894 Brahms piece wasoriginally for clarinet.
