Overview

The Manchester Collective makes its Wigmore Hall debut this July. Known for its experimental programming and daring collaborations, the ensemble’s website describes the Collective as ‘built for a fresh and diverse musical world’. Tonight’s programme, in which the group is joined by soprano Ruby Hughes, covers a wide timescale; just the first two works range from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw’s 2012 Valencia for string quartet, right back to two laments by Dowland in contemporary arrangements by David Bruce.
