The Belgian early-music ensemble has built a reputation as one of the most enterprising of its kind. Its Monteverdi programme features many items from his substantial collection Selva morale e spirituale (literally, Moral and Spiritual Forest), published in 1640-1, and collating music the composer would have performed at St Mark’s, Venice, where he had been employed since 1613.
