Alongside her highly experienced pianist, the Austrian soprano winner of the 2014 Kathleen Ferrier Award selects from the late-Romantic repertoire and in particular from three composers closely associated with Vienna: of the three, only Mahler was born elsewhere. Zemlinsky scholar and biographer Anthony Beaumont recognises in the composer’s 1898 ‘waltz-songs’ a continuation of the tradition of Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes
