Overview

A programme celebrating Christmas with music from the German Baroque focuses on the substantial figure of Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672). Having studied in Venice, he was responsible for bringing Italian influences into German music as it moved from the Renaissance period into the Baroque. His Christmas Story (1660) remains an exceptional achievement.
