Overview

The Jerusalem musicians once again present a programme connecting different periods of Beethoven’s compositional trajectory. The second work (1799) of the Op. 18 set is followed by the stirring E minor work (1808) in the ‘Razumovsky’ series – which utilises a genuine Russian theme also used (for instance) by Musorgsky in his opera Boris Godunov; and finally the great B flat work (1826), together with the Great Fugue which Beethoven originally intended as its closing movement.
